This June, I had the joy of photographing a cinematic outdoor family session in Stockholm, where we wandered through wide open fields, shared a relaxed picnic, and captured the kind of spontaneous moments that families treasure most.
My goal is never to pose or direct too much, but instead to capture the documentary-style family moments that happen naturally when children are free to play and parents can simply enjoy the moment. These sessions are about real smiles, and authentic connection.

A Cinematic Field Adventure
The session flowed with ease as the family wandered through tall summer grass, chased each other in the sunshine, and picked the late June flowers. With no strict poses, the children could be themselves—full of energy and wonder— enjoying their parents' full attention that brought out a lot of genuine laughter. And the result? Cinematic family photographs that felt like movie stills, alive with warmth and authenticity.
Re-charging with Cozy Picnic
Soft grass and sunny afternoon just called for picnic and so that's what we did. I prepared a picnic basket for the family beforehand, picking out fresh warm strawberry buns typical for the Swedish summer season from a nearby café and a few bottles of lemonade and watched the magic unfold. I always advice families to bring their children's favourite toys or books for the sit-down scenes to be able to enjoy authentic moments and this family surprised me with something I never saw before but was so amazing - an illustrated book with a tale about all their family members!
More Roaming before The Goodbye
Fueled up by buns and lemonade, the family decided to roam a bit more before we said goodbye. We spent additional 30 min just climbing the trees, exploring the nature around and dancing among blooming flowers of June because as it's common for these wild and free cinematic sessions, the kids didn't really want to leave the session.

Autumn in Sweden is one of the most beautiful for outdoor family photography—the crisp air, soft golden light, and colorful leaves make the perfect backdrop for a candid, cinematic family photoshoot.
